Muser Feedback

The Bookshelf Muse has been online for close to 5 months now (Holy Cow!) and we'd like to check in with our Musers to see how we're doing. Our goal is to aid, enlighten and inspire other writers, and hopefully give their day a small boost with our posts. We've learned a lot about blogging and still have a lot to learn, and that's where you come in! What would you like to see more of here at the Bookshelf Muse?

We all struggle with different elements of writing. What topics/elements of writing would you like us to post more about? Would you like to see more opportunities to interact as you did with the Grammar Guru, or see us host a contest or two?

*hands out report cards*

As experienced critiquers, we're used to getting feedback! Tell us how we're doing, what you'd like to see. Do you have a wish list of emotions to add to the Emotional Thesaurus, or even an idea for another type of Thesaurus we could look at building for you down the road? Feel free to post anonymously if you feel more comfortable, but please, give us your thoughts so we can make The Bookshelf Muse even better!

I enjoy your blog very much. I look forward to the emotional thesaurus posts. You challenge me to dig deeper and SHOW the writer, not tell. :)

I'm always up for a contest or two. As long as it's free. :) I'm going to host one on my blog in a week or so, too. You'll have to join me! :)

Hugs,
Donna

Love your site. I just did a short write up on it on my blog: http://www.spacefreighters.blogspot.com

Here's some ideas for more Emotion Thesaurus posts (hope I'm not repeating any you've already posted):

Indignation
Hurt(as opposed to Sadness/Grief)
Guilt
Haunty/Superior
Smug
Sulky/sullen

Congrats on nearly 5 months (holy cow , indeed! I cannot imagine the internets without you guys!)! I'm always interested in anything you guys have to say. What about stock or background characters? Stock characters and how to make them come alive? I'm hesitant to suggest ANYTHING, really. You guys are doing great without my help, hee. ;)

Laurie, thank you so much! And thanks everyone for the ideas--please keep 'em coming!

Yeah, these are great ideas. Thanks for all the kind words. I haven't been as active recently since I'm trying to wrap up baby stuff before she actually arrives (yikes), but by next week I should be all done and twiddling my thumbs waiting for the big day, so I should be getting back into the swing soon.

I've recently found this blog, but I'm enjoying it. I love the Emot. Thesaurus posts, and so far, I'm enjoying all the other stuff, too!

I'm reluctant to post about what i want added or changed. There are quite a few blogs that follow a similar, generic formula, and I think you do just fine in being a bit different.

I love the emotions, but I'm sure they're going to run out one day. :( So if I'd have to make a suggestion, it would be to have some follow-up posts about the problems involving "show-don't tell".

I have to say I absolutely love this blog, especially the emotions thesaurus you guys have. I'm stunted in that department so a list of showing is always helpful!

How about starting a novel? I know for me, I have a tendency to start the same way, slow, and I haven't the slightest clue how to change it. I've been doing it for years and while I'd like to think I've improved in other aspects of my writing, my starts are still slow. Not false, just slow but once the action gets going, it doesn't stop. Should one start with action? Dialogue? Lead into something? I know that's the one thing that's hindered me, if you want to call it that.

Great suggestions. The Almighty Angela and I will confer and see what we can do :).

I did check out Cabo Wabo and had a drink called 'I can't drive 55.' Mmmmm. Make sure you have one of those. They have some excellent celeb photos there and the decor is totally rock-n-rool! Loads of fun!
